Oz opens its doors to strangers. By the middle of the 1910s Baum was letting new travelers into his world — a girl from Oklahoma, a sailor and his small companion, a plundered prince — and this third volume gathers three of those novels, each complete and unabridged.

Tik-Tok of Oz (1914) sends Betsy Bobbin and the Shaggy Man on a tumbling quest toward the Nome King, with the clockwork man Tik-Tok marching at their side; The Scarecrow of Oz (1915) — Baum’s own favorite — brings Trot and Cap’n Bill through a whirlpool into the cruel King Krewl’s land, where the Scarecrow must set a captive princess free; and Rinkitink in Oz (1916) follows Prince Inga, three magic pearls, and the merry, maddening King Rinkitink on a rescue that ranges far beyond Oz. With selected illustrations by John R. Neill and a new introduction by Jessica von Braun. The third of four volumes collecting all fourteen of Baum’s Oz novels.
