About this edition
Behind the nursery door, in the shabbiest of dolls' houses, live the merriest dolls in the world. Meg and Peg and Ridiklis and Peter Piper are all rags and mended paint, but they sing and dance and love one another, and when the grand new Tidy Castle arrives to shame them, it is the ragged old dolls who prove to have the real magic. So the sharp-tongued fairy Queen Crosspatch tells us, in Frances Hodgson Burnett's tender classic Racketty-Packetty House (1906).
It is joined here by its companion tale, The Cozy Lion, the story of a fearsome lion who is scolded and loved into gentleness. Both are set fresh with Harrison Cady's original illustrations, in an edition to be read aloud and kept.
